We are a busy church, with lots of programs, events, and opportunities to get involved. Everything you see here is open to all interested persons. Whether you are a long-time member or a new visitor, you are welcome. Explore the programs and find a place to connect, grow, and serve. You can find information about many upcoming events in our weekly electronic newsletter, the Kairos.
On the first and third Wednesday nights of each month, we gather at the church, sometimes for fellowship, sometimes for spiritual deepening and worship, other times to learn something new. It is a great way to connect to our community outside of Sunday morning, make new friends, and find spiritual nourishment in the midst of your week.
· We have food & childcare!
· We gather at 5:30 pm with dinner, activity at 6 pm.
· Food is $5 each & children under 12 free
Pay with cash or check at the event, or ahead on the church website by clicking on the donate button. Please add any food allergies or needs in the comments so we can accommodate you. We hope you will choose to join us!
Touchstones Groups are small groups of people who gather twice each month, from September through November. The groups engage with the church theme for each month, sharing the individual work and thinking they've been doing on the theme, learning, supporting and connecting with each other, and growing in faith and community. Touchstone groups are a great way to meet new people and to take the time to nourish yourself on your own personal journey. Contact Jamie at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about joining a group. Or sign up online.
Humanist Discussion Group
Join Unitarian Universalist and others for a “Humanist Discussion Group.” We’ll talk about ideas, including the state and future of humanism, humanist ethics in a multi-religious world, justice, and science. Humanism, the celebration of human beings and a commitment to the welfare of all people, without supernaturalism, is a core tradition of Unitarian Universalism. Please do invite to this conversation others you think might enjoy and learn from our dialogue. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at noon in Deale Hall.
India House Lunch Group
Every Tuesday at noon, Unitarian Universalists and friends from our congregation gather at the India House Restaurant for great food and conversation. Anyone is welcome, no reservation is necessary, and our group even gets a discount price! Find us at 6430 E. Riverside Blvd, Loves Park, IL 61111 or contact group leader Tom Little at email@example.com for details or to be added to the email list.
Men's Golf Group
The Men's Golf Group gathers in the warmer months on Wednesdays at 3pm for rounds of golf and a good meal afterwards. Each week we rotate courses and restaurants. To join us, learn about our outings in Kairos or contact our group leader Ed Foster at firstname.lastname@example.org for details or to be added to the email list.
For more than twenty five years, groups of intrepid individuals have scheduled a monthly walk—usually after church on the second Sunday of the month—in a beautiful park or conservation area. We walk at a relaxed pace, for about an hour to an hour and a half. We enjoy birds, wildflowers, and each other’s company. Come with us! We announce each Ramble in Kairos and would be happy to have you join. For more details or to be added to our email list, contact group leader Francie Barnes at email@example.com.
The choir is the centerpiece of music at the church. The group is led by Music Director Tim Anderson. The Unicantors sing almost every Sunday at the morning worship service. Rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 8:30, with a warm-up rehearsal on Sunday mornings. The choir welcomes new voices at any time, especially in the fall. The most important qualification is that you like to sing! Please contact Tim at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested or sign up below.
