Music
At the Unitarian Universalist Church, we have a long and proud tradition of musical excellence. Our Music Director, Tim Anderson, currently leads our program, which is anchored by the choir but also includes congregational singing, special instrumentalists and other musicians, and occasional concerts.
The Unicantors
The Unicantors, our choir, is the centerpiece of music at the church. It is led by Music Director Tim Anderson. This group sings almost every Sunday morning from September through June. Rehearsals are on Thursday nights, 7:00-9:00, with a warm-up on Sunday morning at 9:00.
The choir welcomes new voices at any time, especially in the fall. The most important qualification is that you like to sing! Please contact Tim if you are interested.
Music for services spans a range of styles, including Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary (including gospel, opera and secular music). The Unicantors often sing a cappella. When accompanied, however, the choir benefits greatly from the talents of violist Teresa Wilmot and cellist Martha Dunegan, as well as instrumentalists from outside the church. These instrumentalists frequently provide solo music for services as well, as does soprano Gale Ketteler, our resident soloist.

Special music includes a larger work in early December and another in May, often accompanied by a small chamber orchestra. Recent works include Vivaldi's Magnificat, the Lauridsen Nocturnes, Ye Shall Come Out with Joy! (AIDS cantata) by Jonathan D. Cole, Holocaust Cantata by Donald McCullough, Gloria by John Rutter, Te Deum and other works by W.A. Interest in other music ensembles in the past has resulted in the creation of a brass ensemble, recorder group, spring ensemble. Anyone interested in participating in an ensemble should contact Tim.

Instruments
Our organ is an Allen MDS-75, three manual digital organ, installed in 1991; Carlo Curley, noted international organist, played the dedicatory concert.
The harpsichord, in memory of Holly Hurdle, is a small instrument but with its steel frame and clear sound, it is in demand for performances of Handel's Messiah and Bach cantatas around town.
The Kawai grand piano is of medium size; it was refinished after a small hurricane blew through the sanctuary, dropping shards of glass in its wake.
